Setup & Configuration

How do I set up my first kiosk?
  1. Install KioskFrame from the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Open the app. You'll see the fullscreen browser view.
  3. Tap the small gear icon in the corner to open Settings.
  4. Enter your kiosk URL in the Kiosk URL field.
  5. Tap Done. The browser loads your URL in fullscreen.

That's it — your kiosk is running.

Where is the gear button? I can't find it.

The gear button is intentionally subtle. By default it sits in the bottom-right corner. You can move it to any corner in Settings → Gear Button Position.

If you don't see it, try tapping the area near the corner — there may be a tap delay or it may have blended into your kiosk content.

Can I lock out the settings with a PIN?

Operator PIN protection is on the roadmap as a Pro feature. In the meantime, you can use iOS Guided Access (Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access) to prevent users from exiting the app entirely.

How do I configure the screensaver / idle clock?

Go to Settings → Screensaver. You can enable or disable the screensaver and set the idle timeout (how long before it activates). Tap anywhere on the screensaver to return to your kiosk content.

My web page uses JavaScript. Will it work?

Yes. JavaScript is enabled by default. You can disable it in Settings → JavaScript if your page doesn't need it.

Can I restrict navigation so users can't leave my site?

Yes — the URL Whitelist feature (Pro) lets you define a list of allowed domains. Any navigation outside that list is blocked. You can add multiple domains and wildcard subdomains.

Purchases & Billing

What does the free tier include?

The free tier gives you the core kiosk experience — fullscreen browser, gear button access, URL configuration, JavaScript toggle, and screensaver. There is no time limit on the free tier.

Pro features (URL whitelist, custom branding removal, and upcoming additions) require a subscription or lifetime purchase.

What's included in Pro?
  • URL Whitelist — restrict navigation to approved domains
  • Remove KioskFrame branding from the display
  • All future Pro features as they're added

Pro is available monthly ($4.99/mo), yearly ($49.99/yr), or as a lifetime purchase ($99.99).

How does the 14-day free trial work?

Monthly and yearly plans include a 14-day free trial. You won't be charged during the trial period. If you cancel before the trial ends, no payment is taken. Apple handles billing — you can manage or cancel the trial in your Apple ID settings.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple. To cancel:

  1. Open the App Store on your device.
  2. Tap your profile photo → Subscriptions.
  3. Find KioskFrame and tap Cancel Subscription.

You'll retain Pro access until the end of the billing period.

I bought Pro but it's not showing as active. What do I do?

Try tapping Restore Purchases in Settings → Upgrade to Pro. This re-checks your App Store entitlements. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID you used to purchase.

If it still doesn't activate, email us at hello@kioskframe.com with your Apple ID email and we'll help resolve it.

Does the lifetime purchase cover future Pro features?

Yes. The lifetime purchase grants access to all current and future Pro features — there are no additional charges for new Pro additions.

Technical

Which devices are supported?

KioskFrame requires iOS 17.0 or later. It runs on any iPhone or iPad that supports iOS 17:

  • iPhone: iPhone XS / XR and later
  • iPad: iPad mini (5th gen+), iPad Air (3rd gen+), iPad Pro (all), standard iPad (6th gen+)
Does KioskFrame work without an internet connection?

The kiosk browser requires internet to load remote URLs. If your kiosk content is hosted locally or the connection drops, the page will show a network error — this is standard WebView behavior. The app itself continues to run and will reload automatically when connectivity returns.

Does the app collect any data about me or my kiosk content?

No. We collect only anonymous, aggregate usage analytics (via PostHog, EU-hosted). We never read, record, or transmit the URLs you configure, the content displayed in your kiosk, or any personal information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
